Red timeline
This is a timeline that presents gaps of inactivity, after the deposition of the plaintiff. A deposition is basically a witness testimony taken under oath which is documented to be used in court. I can’t really go too much into the actual case due to confidentiality issues, but this represents one of the ways graphic design is used in litigation support. This is basically a visual aid to help attorneys communicate their argument to the jury, and greatly increases effectiveness. A timeline that focuses on gaps is usually used by the defense to counter the plaintiff. The plaintiff is the side that’s suing, by the way. By focusing on plaintiff inaction over long periods of time, blame can be shifted away from the defense. It puts pressure on the plaintiff to question whether or not they’ve taken preventative measures.
This exhibit was created with CorelDraw. I was given documents pertaining to the case, and the most significant events were made into individual entries.

The time it takes to submit a claim/deposition/whatever it’s called and actually go to court is forever. I never knew graphic design was used for such things.
Yeah, graphic design is everywhere. Luckily for me, people are never going to stop suing each other, so I’ll always have a job.
